With this guitar, the intent of the Ibanez Japan Custom Shop team was to explore an entirely new type of RG, and still remain true to the foundations that made the RG a historically great design. The standard scale length for an RG is 25.5”, but this guitar features a medium 24.75” scale length. The body size is also ever so slightly scaled down to mesh perfectly with the adjusted scale. The overall effect is an RG that is even more nimble and faster playing than its full-sized siblings. The aesthetics of this guitar are both compelling and a bit surprising due to the unique color combination of the finish. The upper and lower horns, as well as the bottom of the body, are all finished in an elegant transparent black, while the center of the guitar displays a celebratory chorus of colors, all set against the backdrop of a beautifully figured Quilted Maple top.

The top for this guitar was carefully selected from a supply of superior quality Quilted Maple to provide depth, motion, and complexity to the guitar’s appearance. The end result was all that the Ibanez team in Japan hoped for and then some. It’s a truly exquisite instrument with a brilliant top wood as its centerpiece.

Running along the side of the neck are Luminlay side dot inlays. These inlays provide a clearly lit path on even the darkest stages, ensuring clear guidance and note accuracy throughout your performance. Also, when illuminated, they provide an eye-catching and nuanced visual accent.

The most unique feature of this instrument is the 24.75” medium scale length rather than the 25.5” long scale that is traditionally used on the RG. This slightly smaller scale makes the guitar more compact, comfortable, and lightning fast to play.
